In the Boston Globe editorial, A Cure for the Iran Crisis, the editor describes a solution that may help Iran have a successful Nuclear Energy program without the capability of using the enriched uranium for nuclear weapons. He suggests that a consortium be placed to oversee the enrichment and use of uranium so that Iran can't use it for illicit purposes.
The one problem that I have with this is that Iran will likely not agree to this. Ahmadenijad has brazenly stated that he wants to keep his nuclear energy program an inside job. The problem is that, as many suspect, Iran may very well be creating weapons with the uranium that they enrich themselves. The only solution to this could be to place sanctions on Iran to purchase their uranium from UN friendly companies, and have their nuclear facilities overseen by UN personel.
